Tara was in a fix.
The zip of her school bag had got stuck.
It wasn’t closing.
Tara boarded the school van to return home.
“Will father get me a new bag?” she wondered.
She looked at the school bags hanging on roadside shops.
Tara was dreaming of buying a new bag.
On returning home she showed the bag to her mother.
Mother pulled the zip and it worked.
Tara was surprised.
“I thought I could get a new bag Amma” she confessed.
“Even if the zip did not work we could have got a new zip for bag” mother explained.
“It’s only about three months ago that we bought this bag” she reminded.
“A bag like this is a luxury for some children” she added.
Tara knew that some children are unable to attend school as they cannot afford bags, books and shoes.
She felt bad about dreaming of a new bag so soon.
She was glad that mother could fix the zip.
What happened to the zip of Tara’s bag?
Why was she looking at the bags in the road side shops?
What made Tara glad finally?
